Instructions to fix Windows using DISM

Note: This solution applies to Windows 10 and above and Windows Server 2016 and above

Step 1: Scan Health

dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

Step 2: Check Health

dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth

Step 3: Restore Health

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Step 4: Mount Windows ISO of Windows version to be fixed

mount the Windows ISO as a drive (D: in this case)

Step 5: Restore Health Using Mounted Windows ISO From Previous Step

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:WIM:D:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

Step 6: System File Check

sfc /scannow
